Bison sausage and beans at Owamni

Owamni is a full-service Indigenous restaurant created by The Sioux Chef in 2021. It was intended of showcasing true North America Indigenous foods and culture and food producers. This restaurant was highly anticipated and in 2022 won the James Beard award for the Best New Restaurant.

The restaurant is located along the bank of the Mississippi River and St. Anthony falls, serving as direct reclaim of the colonized river. The location itself was once the side of a Dakota village known as Owamniyomini – the place of falling, swirling water. The servers do a great job at educating the menu to patrons, decolonizing palates with every dish.
