Naked Dani #3 cocktail at Colita restaurant

Chicken Tinga Tostadas (left) and Green Chile Pork Tacos (right) at Colita

Colita is an upscale, modern Oaxacan-style restaurant in South Minneapolis. With its tapas, small plate menu, you are supposed to order to share. This restaurant is perhaps better known for the cocktails that are tasty and festive. In the summertime, the patio serves as a great tropical getaway. The interior is modern, but a tad crowded with neighboring tables extremely close to each other.

I have frequented Colita quite a few times and am always impressed with the flavors and plating. Wish the portions were a little larger for the price. Of course, this is to be expected. The menu is entirely gluten-free and leans towards spice and intense, bold flavors. In addition to getting a few plates to share, be sure to order the churros, which are a unique take on the cinnamon treat.

The vibe: Tropical and pastoral. A great spot for date night or celebrating a special occasion.
