Best Trivia Companies in the Twin Cities

Sporcle Live Trivia

Sporcle Live Trivia has evolved a little bit after the pandemic started. Originally being old school with paper and pencil, guests would write in their answers and have a runner to bring the answers up to the host. Nowadays, all of the trivia-ing is done on the phones. What I love about Sporcle is the ability to rank each question. Meaning, you can put more points on answers that you are more confident about.

Format: Regular Round, Mystery Round, Final Round for each game.

  • The Regular Round has 8 questions with teams receiving the categories related to the questions at the start of the game. Teams can wager higher numbers on answers they are more confident about.

  • The Mystery Round consists of 4 rapid-style questions with varying topics and formats.

  • The Final Round requires teams to wager 0-15 points based solely on the category. Once wagers are in, the question is read.

  • Team with the highest points after the Final Round wins.

Trivia Mafia

Trivia Mafia is a local MN trivia company. First starting as a trivia night in 2007, it quickly became one of the best bar trivia companies in the Midwest. With each round of 5 questions carrying a different theme, I will admit that this trivia can be difficult if you don’t know much about the theme. This is all the more reason to be sure that your friends have a variety of knowledge!

Format: The game is played over 8 rounds.

  • All rounds contain 5 questions except the image round, which has 10. There are 2 general knowledge rounds. All other rounds have themes.

  • Scores are tallied twice during the game, one after round 4; and again at the end.

  • Teams can select one second-half round to be their “Mega Round.” This allows them to earn extra points by weighting each answer withing that round 1-5 points.

Get a Clu Trivia

Another trivia option is the local Get a Clu Trivia company. With a few locations throughout the Twin Cities, this place is less intense than some of the other trivia companies so you might be able to ease into the trivia game.

Format: 6 rounds of trivia are played with 3 questions in each round.

  • Bonus halftime and final questions. Halftime is a 4 part answer.

  • Final Question is a point wager 0-20pts.

  • Put 4 answers in correct order for full wager.
